This bulletin covers the period between 26-29 November 2017 during which the digital world was buzzing with two main issues. The first was the Saturday crisis which threatened the Israeli governmental coalition, while the second was the approval of the Recommendations Law which shields the Prime Minister from making the recommendations of the investigation with him public.
Yaakov Litzman, Israeli Minister of Health, and leader of the Ultra-Orthodox political party “United Torah Judaism”, had officially resigned in protest of what he called “the desecration of Saturday’s sanctity”, only to withdraw his resignation later that week.
As for the other issue, the Knesset approved, Monday evening, the first reading of the “Recommendations Law” which bars the Police from making recommendations on indictments at the end of an investigation, which will have a retroactive effect on the investigations with Prime Minister, Benjamin Netaniyahu.
According to senior officials in the Ministry of Justice, the State’s Attorney General, Avichay Mandalblit, might use his capacities and ask the team investigating “Case 1000”, to submit its recommendations to the Attorney General. However, the new law, if it enters into force, will prevent making these recommendations public!
The law, which aims to save the Israeli Prime Minister, angered Israeli websites and was highly criticized.
