Marram Masarwa offers a comprehensive exploration of Jerusalem's education system, examining Israel's policies towards education in East Jerusalem during the past decades. This study sheds light on the considerable challenges faced by Palestinian educational institutions operating in this context, as well as the surveillance and distortion of curricula. The research draws upon data collection, statistical analysis, and a wide array of interviews with key figures in the field of education.

Masarwa concludes that the educational landscape in occupied East Jerusalem mirrors the daily lives of its residents, who grapple with significant challenges. Since 1967, the Israeli occupation has systematically worked to integrate the education sector into the Israeli education system, encompassing economics, administration, supervision, and pedagogy. This has been part of a broader effort to erase Palestinian cultural landmarks, erode the Palestinian identity of Jerusalem, manipulate its cultural heritage, and distort its history. Simultaneously, it has sought to undermine the awareness of students by intervening in and altering Palestinian curricula, all in alignment with a policy aimed at isolating the city from its Palestinian surroundings.
