A weekly newsletter monitoring key issues in the new media of Israel 24-27 December 2017

New Media Weekly Bulletin

This bulletin covers the period between 24 – 27 December 2017; where the Israeli social media got caught up on the interception made by MK Oren Hazan from Likud Party to a bus carrying the families of prisoners in Nafha. Highjacked

The act which was condemned by Palestinian and human rights’ circles, was highly supported on Israeli Social Media, while the Israeli political leadership, supporting peace with the Palestinians, said nothing.
It is worth noting here that other left-wing activists and politicians were with Hazan at the incident, which explains the shameful and dreadful silence. However, they were not as visible in the media.

Hazan informed his followers on Facebook that he intends to stop the bus. He wrote in this context; “the enthusiasts left Gaza an hour ago on their way to Nafha prison to visit the scum they call family. Shortly before that I left my home in Ariel heading towards prison.

No, this is not a Psikometri question – family visits are a reality that should be stopped, and I came here to confront the families of these human animals.
Here I am waiting for them to arrive.

Later on, Hazan wrote on Facebook; “as promised, without fear, I boarded the Hamas bus carrying those going to visit the scum they call family. In a heated confrontation I told them that the right place for vandalizers is underground, and I did not mean trenches.”
