A weekly newsletter monitoring key issues in the new media of Israel 26-29 November 2017

New Media Weekly Bulletin

The current bulletin covers the period between 5.11.1-8.11.17, where the virtual world has been preoccupied, throughout the past week, by a number of topics that went beyond the developments in the Arab world. Those have precluded a gunman opening fire within a mass shooting at a church in Texas, resulting in several casualties and injuries. The attacker was found dead after running his car off the road.

The matter was well occupied by the virtual Israeli world, especially given the latter perceives any "American calamity" as a personal catastrophe. The matter was addressed exclusively beyond what is normally highlighted within Middle East news.

To this extent, the approval by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation in the Israeli Knesset of a proposed bill, termed by the ‘’Recommendations Law’’, acting as an alternative to the so-called ‘’French Law’’, enormously up-roared the Israeli virtual world.

The alternatively introduced law seeks to prevent the trial of the prime minister for as long as he still acts in office, where the law may be utilised as a means to grant protection to those who are described as "criminals" and to entrench the corruption of power.

On Sunday, the Israeli army revealed they were holding five bodies of martyrs sought off the bombing of the tunnel barraged by Israeli warplanes. To this extent, the virtual world has recently disclosed that any potential return of the martyrs’ bodies ought to be implemented in exchange for Israeli soldiers’ correspondents held in captivity by Hamas.
