A weekly newsletter monitoring key issues in the new media of Israel 21-24 September 2017

This issue covers the period 17-20 September 2017. Israeli online networks were preoccupied with only two issues. This was due to Jewish holidays and Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana).

Firstly, Israeli online networks addressed the struggle of people with special needs, particularly during Jewish holidays. Posts wondered how these people would spend the holidays this year.

People with special needs continue their struggle to enjoy their rights and raise the insurance allowances they receive. These allowances are not sufficient to ensure a decent standard of living and enjoy the holidays like others.

Secondly, online networks interacted with the well-known American comedian Conan O'Brien’s visit to the country in early September 2017. Online networks were more interactive with O’Brien’s visit after he posted videos of his trip in his Conan Without Borders show.
Israeli online networks were of the view that the videos were the best promotion of Israel, considering O’Brien as an Israeli who holds American nationality.
