A bill that proposes additional reasons that allow the Israeli Minister of Interior to withdraw permanent residency of dwellers in Jerusalem and villages of the occupied Golan

Proposed Laws

Initiator: (Jewish Home)
Bill No. 5104/20/F

MK Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) and MK Yoav Kish (Likud) submitted a bill, which provides for annexing all settlement areas in the occupied Palestinian West Bank to the so-called “Israel’s sovereignty”. As an initial step, the bill was officially listed on the Knesset agenda on Monday, 5 February. Later, the initiators will present the bill to the government to state its position and decide whether the draft regulation enters into force.

The bill prescribes that the State of Israel’s judicial authority and sovereignty will be in force throughout settlement areas in the West Bank. Giving him/her the power to put in place regulations and procedures, the Minister of Justice will be assigned to enforce the law.

Prospects of the bill:
Basically, this bill is associated with a political decision by the Israeli government. Since the bill will be practically applicable to the West Bank as a whole, the government is required to settle this issue.
The bill is identical to another, which was submitted on the same day. Bearing the number 5015, the other bill was initiated by Smotrich, Kish, and a number of MKs. This duplicity falls in the context of MKs’ pursuit of gains in the race toward racist laws in support of the occupation and settlement activity.
