This issue of the Newsletter covers the period 14-17 February 2018. Israeli social media networks were preoccupied with several issues. These included the investigations with the Prime Minister and police recommendations to bring him to court. For the second week in a row, Israeli social media platforms were taken up by the investigation of Benjamin Netanyahu on grounds of corruption charges.
Also this week, Israeli social media activists were absorbed in the massacre at a Florida school, where a shooting accident resulted in 17 fatalities.
In addition, this issue monitors the most shared posts on Israeli social media networks. This week, two posts went viral. On its Facebook page, Channel 20 commented on naming a street in France after the late Leader Yasser Arafat. According to Channel 20, “The top levels of government in France approved the naming of a street after the grand murderer, Yasser Arafat.” The post got thousands of likes and shares, which denounced the naming of the street, claiming that Leader Arafat was a “murderer”.
In the second post, Yoav (Poli) Mordechai, Coordinator of Government Activities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, accused the Palestinian Authority of incitement through school curricula.
