New Media in Israel

This issue of the Newsletter covers the period 14-16 January 2018. Israeli social media networks were primarily preoccupied with one issue, namely Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech.

 This week, Israeli social media networks fiercely attacked Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after a meeting of the Central Council. According to the final statement of the meeting, President Abbas approved the suspension of agreements between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

As was expected, Israeli social media platforms invested and used President Abbas’ statement on President Donald Trump, namely “May your house be destroyed”, for propaganda purposes and to accuse the Palestinian people anew of the ongoing conflict. Israeli social media activists also mocked President Abbas.
