Law enforcement agencies’ failure to address settler crimes against Palestinians in the West Bank contributes to escalating these crimes!

A new report released by Yesh Din  Volunteers for Human Rights asserts that less than one in ten investigations into ideologically-motivated crimes of hatred against Palestinians in the West Bank ends up in a charging instrument.

The report data is based on monitoring provided by Yesh Din since 2005. A review of more than 1,200 investigation files examined by the Shai Unit (an Israeli police unit in charge of the West Bank) shows that only 3 percent of the investigations launched into ideologically-driven encroachments on Palestinians in the West Bank resulted in charging instruments. Only 1.8% of the investigations files monitored by Yesh Din (94 out of 1,163 processed files) led to the filing of charging instruments.
