Israel between religionisation and secular identity

Introductory Remark

In this issue of the Israeli Scene, we continue to report the most notable new facts in relation to the Israeli right wing’s pursuit to consolidate its hegemony over all walks of life in Israel. In parallel, the right wing attempts to impose its political discourse on all pending issues, first and foremost the conflict with the Palestinians.

In this context, this issue addresses in detail the implications of incorporating the Jerusalem Institute for Strategic Studies (JISS), which launched its website late in October. The JISS identifies itself as an institute that looks to serve the State of Israel by promoting conservative political and security discourse through research, conferences, and engagement with governmental, military, academic and media, and public institutions.
